Overview
Knowledge tests test your knowledge about Alberta's traffic law.
Knowledge tests are conducted by us for:
- every driver's licence class all driver's licence classes, with the exception of Class 5 since the test for knowledge during the process of obtaining one's Class 5 licence is the knowledge test for Class 7 (learner's license)
- The air brake endorsement
- The S-endorsement
- for the Safety Fitness Certificate (SFC) the test for compliance
Tests for knowledge are offered in the offices of registry agents at a cost:
- The test consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. you need to score a minimum of 25 in order to pass.
- The test can be taken at any number of times you need to pass, but you can only take it once every day.

Languages

When the particular language that you need cannot be translated via computers (see the table above under the section on Languages) it is not necessary to require a first try to pass the driver's knowledge test three times. It is possible to arrange for a professional translator to the correct translation identification number (TIN) to take the test together when you take your first test.
